How do I know if I have BPH?
BPH typically presents as weak urinary stream, hesitancy, urgency, frequent urination, and waking at night to urinate. We use the validated IPSS questionnaire to quantify severity.
Is BPH dangerous?
BPH itself is non-cancerous, but untreated symptoms can lead to bladder damage, infections, and reduced quality of life. PSA and prostate cancer screening are separate evaluations your clinician may recommend.
How long until BPH medication works?
Alpha-blockers like tamsulosin can improve flow within days. 5-ARIs like finasteride take 3–6 months to shrink the prostate measurably.
Can I be evaluated for BPH online?
Yes. Adults 18+ in Florida can complete the IPSS screen online; a urologist reviews your history and orders labs or referral if needed.
